  • Located in Copenhagen’s Ørestad, The News Headquarters is the centre of daily sports and news broadcasts of DR. The building houses among others DR Production, DR Archives and Research Centre, DR Journalism and Entertainment, as well as all of the labour unions at DR. The design of the News Headquarters accommodates all of these different functions, which has resulted in a dynamic house that is flexible in its structure and interactive for the employees. This is visible in all the facets of the building.

A large transparent facade opens the building towards the surrounding urban space, creating a direct view of the large atrium. Through several storeys, the atrium creates coherence between the organically swung balconies, the central newsroom and the building’s interior street. The interior contains open office areas, workshop spaces, closed offices as well as quiet zones.

  • Daylight is drawn into the central rooms of the building through the outer walls and the roof, which reduces the need for artificial lightning while at the same time emphasizing the special funtions of the rooms.

The building has integrated groundwater cooling, a double facade system, natural ventilation and solar cells in the roof construction, which was developed with the support of EU.
