Cultural Heritage and Transformation
Giving new life to old buildings
We take gentle care of preservation-worthy buildings, converting them for use today, while preserving their relevance for the past.
“We perceive the existing building stock as a resource for society that we should take good care of. Building renovation is essential if we are to reduce energy consumption and secure our cultural heritage in time and place. We seek out the central cultural and architectural values in a building, and we respectfully revitalise the building and adapt it to modern-day use."
– Kresten Kirkegaard, Partner and Architect MAA
Because of Dissing+Weitling’s unique heritage, we have much sought-after specialist knowledge, both specifically in relation to the preservation of Arne Jacobsen’s designs and architecture, and generally in relation to traditional building materials and methods.
Specialist knowledge
We advise on all aspects of a renovation project – from the materials and building techniques of a time gone by, to how a specific building can meet the needs of users without losing its unique architectural and historical values.
Our specialist knowledge also covers how old buildings can be made more energy efficient. Our customers count several Danish cultural institutions and companies, including New Carlsberg Glyptotek, Danmarks Nationalbank, the University of Copenhagen and more.
