Flexible Architecture

Design for change

Dissing Weitling ECCO Conference Centre stairs Adam Mørk

Dissing+Weitling’s projects for headquarters buildings, office buildings and social housing focus on flow and movement in buildings and their surroundings – making it possible to transform them when new user needs arise over time.

"Building timeless value to us means to keep a holistic mindset and consider everything from materials to a company’s brand values and especially the people who will experience and use the building every day. Many people spend most of their waking hours at the workplace, so we take the job of designing the best possible environment very seriously".

– Daniel Hayden, Partner and Architect MAA

Spaces in which we move every day must be able to satisfy many different needs, both now and in the future. Headquarters and offices will almost always change owners over time, and even though there is a common basic desire for 'the good workplace', needs for area allocation and layout will change. Therefore, we will always strive to build for the future now – with good spaces and materials, plenty of daylight and good acoustics.

With thorough preliminary analyses of the requirements and needs for the function of a building, we ensure that area allocation, space and layout allow for several functions and can be adjusted as necessary.

Flexibility inside and out

Understanding the values of a good working environment as well as human behaviour not only provide the foundation for ensuring a great daily experience for the inhabitants, it also allows us to lay down the foundation for designing a building or an outdoor space that can function for many years to come.

We have a passion for these flexible spaces and environments that meet different user needs, and we are always ready to share our knowledge.
